Wenatchee, WA Community Summit

BE SAFE was very welcome at this terrific multi-day conference!  A large audience attended our opening session on BE SAFE The Movie. Washington is ready to BE SAFE and we look forward to continuing our work in the state!

Milestones National Autism Conference, Cleveland, OH

Tom Iland presented BE SAFE at the Milestones National Autism Conference. Police training and safety for individuals with ASD is a hot topic in the state, and Ohioans are embracing BE SAFE as part of the solution.

Massachusetts Department of Developmental Disabilities & University of MA Donahue Institute training in Shrewsbury, MA

We Bridged the Gap in Shrewsbury! First we trained local law enforcement officers from police departments across the state with the only evidence-based police training in the country: Experience Autism®. Next we paired officers with self-advocates with autism and other developmental disabilities for a BE SAFE Interactive Movie Screening. Finally we held a BE SAFE Certificate Course to enable educators and service providers to use BE SAFE with a wide range of learners. We appreciate the opportunity to expand the reach of our programs in MA!

Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center

We started with a Mini-Experience Autism® for officers to help them understand the features or autism and related conditions. Then officers were paired up with self-advocates with autism and other developmental disabilities for a BE SAFE Interactive Movie Screening. This event helped local leaders and organizations unite and collaborate on this important issue! Thanks to energetic Anne Tapia for bringing these events to your community!

Long Beach Unified School District
Students from Long Beach Unified’s ACT Transition program had a terrific time when we brought BE SAFE to their campus. Officers from Long Beach Police Department, Long Beach School Police and the California Highway Patrol were paired up with adults students with autism and other developmental disabilities for a BE SAFE Interactive Screening. Long Beach, CA loves BE SAFE and we love working with them. Many thanks to dedicated teacher Julie Denmion for organizing this event!

My Health My Resources of Tarrant County (MHMR) in Ft. Worth TX

MHMR brought us back to Texas to Bridge the Gap! First we held a BE SAFE Certificate Course to enable educators and service providers to use BE SAFE with a wide range of learners. Next we trained local law enforcement officers from several local police departments with the only evidence-based police training in the country: Experience Autism®. Finally, we paired officers with self-advocates with autism and other developmental disabilities for a BE SAFE Interactive Movie Screening. Many thanks to Lacey Eaton of MHMR Tarrant for championing this cause and expanding the reach of our programs in Texas!

ESC Region One Annual Autism Conference in Edinburgh TX

Tom and Emily were honored to be the only two presenters at the ESC Region One Annual Autism Conference. The 3-hour overview of BE SAFE, along with a guided tour of Come to Life! Your Guide to Self-Discovery sparked a lot of interest and follow up events in the area!

Down Syndrome Presentation Affiliates in Action National Leadership Conference

Attendees at the conference were excited to learn how BE SAFE can help individuals with Down Syndrome interact safely with the police.
