Lt. Tim Troxel of the Upper Moreland Township Police Department took the lead to bring BE SAFE to Willow Grove. “A Be Safe Interactive Movie Screening is an excellent safety program that raises awareness for everyone involved,” Troxel said. “It is unique because it educates both first responders and self-advocates with autism and intellectual disabilities, bringing them together so they can interact with one another on a personal level in a safe, comfortable environment. Everyone who attends walks away better educated from the experience, and better prepared for a real emergency or other police encounter. I think this program should be offered to as many people as possible.”
Thanks to the Upper Moreland Township Police Benevolent Association and the Willow Grove Volunteer Fire Company, and Chief Brian Focht for hosting this great event! We appreciate Officers Matt Toro, Frank Gallagher and Matt Snyder for leading activities, along with Ben, Dante, Dan and Owen for participating in games and role play. Thanks also to Officer Rems and his K-9 partner Dex for letting us know about the no-pet policy for working animals!
