Interactive Screening at the Future is Now Support Group, Hawthorne, hosted by Mychal’s Place and the Autism Society of Los Angeles.
The second of 4 BE SAFE events funded by The California Wellness Foundation (TCWF) included two Hawthorne Police Department Officers who spent quality time with the young adults with disabilities and their parents/caregivers. Asking for Help was a popular activity, and for some in the audience, it was their first time ever speaking to a police officer.
All families in attendance received a free copy of Be Safe the Movie. Sixteen service agencies received Be Safe Teaching Edition thanks to TCWF, including Autism Advocates Group, Los Angeles County Office of Education, Brand Parent Support Group, Autism Behavioral Consultants, Mychal’s Place, Supportive Living and Day Program, Brain Rehabilitation and Injury Network, and the Department of Child and Family Services.
